Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho (GSEWNI) is looking for a Custodian/Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Spokane Program Center

Wage: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience - Full-time with full benefits
Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho (GSEWNI) is a non-profit dedicated to empowering girls through the Girl Scout four pillars: life skills, STEM, outdoors, and entrepreneurship! We cover a massive area of 29 counties that stretches over 67,000 square miles, spanning from Central and Eastern Washington to Northern Idaho. Our headquarters is in Spokane, Washington, but we've got awesome staff in the Tri-Cities, Washington, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
POSITION SUMMARY:
To support the Girl Scouts Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho Spokane Program Center by providing janitorial and security services for council administration and program functions located in Spokane. The person selected for this position will work pre-determined hours, Monday through Friday or other times as directed and scheduled by GSEWNI, not to exceed 40 hours per week, arriving early or arriving late in day to complete janitorial services
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
- Perform light maintenance and building repairs
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, program areas and common areas
- Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, soap products, paper towels and etc.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; including a gym floor
- Empty wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers
- Maintain building entries, stairs, ramps and walkways by removing debris, snow and ice
- Set-up and take down equipment for meetings and events such as easels, chairs, tables, volleyball nets, etc
- Maintain and submit orders for adequate stock of custodial supplies
- Clean equipment at conclusion of use and maintain equipment in good working order
- Lock and unlock buildings when requested; secure buildings when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants
- Report the need for repair or maintenance of buildings to supervisor
- Move furniture and equipment on an incidental basis
- Accept and store freight deliveries
- Help clean exterior property daily picking up litter and seasonally removing leaves during fall
- Perform other related duties

- Physical ability to do the required work

- Knowledge of generally accepted professional cleaning procedures
- Proficient in the use of standard custodial equipment, including large floor cleaning machine.
- Willingness to subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout movement, including acceptance of the Girl Scout philosophy and willingness to maintain membership in the Girl Scouts USA
- Ability to cooperate with volunteers and guests while protecting the integrity of council facilities
- Ability to work effectively with people of all ages, races, sexes, religions, lifestyles, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds in a professional manner
Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:
Regularly lift objects up 20 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds, repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Climb, pull, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist and crouch while performing custodial duties. Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time and work in inclement weather. Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses and differentiate between colors (no color blindness). The incumbent must be able to understand instructions and recognize hazardous or poisonous materials and/or products. There may be some exposure to fumes, dust, and/or odors from cleaning chemicals. Must be physically capable of working with and mixing custodial chemicals. Must be physically capable of operating an automatic floor scrubber, carpet shampooer and a variety of vacuum cleaners to include upright, wet, and backpack vacuum
Work Environment:
While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will be exposed to extreme noise, heat, cold, or atmospheric conditions or to any workplace hazards or potential injuries that are more frequent than normal. Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment is an integral part of this position, as is the ability to work with high-stress situations based on the nature of GSEWNI mission and daily work
