Description

Girl Scouts Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho is looking for someone with non-profit accounting experience to join our team.  Girl Scouts mission is to grow girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character who make the world a better place.

This position is full time in office in Spokane, WA.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

• Accounts Payable for council, entering invoices and processing payments.

• Review daily deposits prepared by reception/registration and the retail store, process and record the deposits.

• Performs payroll processing and reporting for the council.

  • Posts monthly journal entries to record various financial transactions.
  • Works with staff to ensure accurate and timely submittal of necessary reports, such as expense reports and reimbursements.
  • Performs accounting functions for various council activities, such as product sales accounting, collections/NSF checks, audit preparations, fixed asset management, sales tax filings and payments.
  • Works with Fund Development Department to develop and maintain a tracking system for grants and restricted donations.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Demonstrates support for all of the council's work through collaboration with other departments, including support of council fundraising efforts.
  • Assists the Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, and preparation of the annual budget.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.

Education/Experience:

  • Four-year College Accounting Degree preferred, will accept equivalent experience may be considered.
  •  Non-profit accounting experience is strongly preferred with budgeting experience as well as the ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills in fast paced environment and be able to manage time effectively.
  • Must be experienced in the use of computers, including word processing, Outlook, Excel,
  • Must be able to compile information and develop related reports, using council software.
  • Proficient use of QuickBooks is a must.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout movement, including acceptance of the Girl Scout philosophy and willingness to maintain membership in the Girl Scouts USA.
  • Valid Driver's License and insurability preferred.
  • Reliable transportation required
